Here is a letter by Kaja Elise (organiser of the meeting in Aalborg) ...
Hello everybody!
I just thought I should write a little about the Student
Meeting in Aalborg. As you all probably know, it will be from 4.-6. of
November, at our university here in Aalborg. There will be six
different workshops with really good teachers. The workshops are:
Clinical Piano (with Helle Lund, music therapist and jazz-pianist),
Voice (with Sanne Storm; at the moment working on a PhD about how to
use the voice as assessment), Intuitive Music (with Carl
Bergstrøm; he is a legend in Danmark, especially among people
who are interested in improvisation), something called Psychodynamic
Movement (with Inge Nygaard Pedersen; she is at the moment writing a
PhD in Music Therapy; and she is the founder of our education), Five
Rhythms (feelings will be worked with through five basic rhythms and
dancing) and Body Therapy (with Dr. Ulla Holck).
For the speech on Sunday, we have Dr. Lars Ole Bonde. He
will talk about his PhD; about research in music therapy, and more
specifically about GIM, and the therapeutic use of classical music. I
promise, it will be good...this man knows about everything there is to
know about music therapy. Both the workshops and the speech is designed
so that it should be possible for you to bring it further into your
studies, internships, and in your work as a music therapist. More
detailed descriptions about the workshops and the speech will soon to
be found at our website:

Another ambition with this Student Meeting, is to get an
idea about what music therapy students need today, and how we can make
it better to study music therapy. These questions will be investigated
through discussion groups, interviews and questionnaires. The results
of this will, hopefully, be used in related projects and developing
work in the educational field of music therapy. So, it's important that
you come! You can get influence on how music therapy education
develops. :-)
And, of course, there are party and such things in the
evenings, where you can get to know each other and have fun... AND,
there will be lots of music and improvisation! By the way, something
historically is also going to happen: There will be people coming from
the Norwegian educations! This has never happened before!
If you have any questions about anything, just write! Either to me: kajaelise@gmail.com, or to mtmeeting@yahoo.com.
I really hope to see you all! It's important that you come! It's
important to have a good communication between the students; that's the
way to develop and get better!!
Kaja
